Marcheta E. Gillespie, CPPO, CPPB, C.P.M., CPM, is a dynamic speaker/trainer and experienced leader in the procurement profession. As the retired Director of the City of Tucson's Department of Procurement, Marcheta has over 26 years of experience in one of the country’s largest, most highly acclaimed procurement organizations. She now shares her extensive experience and expertise with public and private industry through her business, MG Procurement Consulting, LLC. Marcheta is a passionate advocate for the procurement profession. Her areas of expertise include organizational leadership, strategic planning, public sector contracting, project management, program development, contract administration and cooperative procurement.
Marcheta was the recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Service Award, the 2nd highest award given by NIGP – The Institute for Public Procurement for her extensive contributions to the public procurement profession. Marcheta is a former Chair of the UPPCC Governing Board, was the 2013-2014 President of NIGP and served on the NIGP Board of Directors for 10 years. She was the first Chair of the NIGP Talent Council and Chair of the NIGP 2.0 Task Force, a historic project of governance model transformation. Marcheta chaired the NIGP Task Force for the Values & Guiding Principles Initiative and numerous NIGP committees over the past 26 years.
Marcheta has spoken and trained at hundreds of international, national, regional and local conferences and events. She has developed numerous training programs, contributed to dozens of articles/interviews for national publications and is highly sought-after instructor in the profession. Marcheta provides professional consulting, training and speaking engagements for government agencies and private sector businesses.
